This year, the Stranger Things team have only been permitted one entrant to the 2023 Emmy Awards. As fans prime themselves for the fifth and final series of the show, which looks to be stalling due to the writers’ strike, they might recall that season four was split into two halves. This is where the Emmys issue lies.
The prestigious awards ceremony has a rule whereby a television show must have six or more episodes in a given season to be eligible for nomination in the Drama Series or main series acting categories. The first part of season four was unleashed on May 27th, 2022 and consisted of seven episodes, while the second part, consisting of just two episodes, landed on July 1st, 2022.
Due to this regulation, just one actor is eligible for an award for season four, part two. According to Variety, Dacre Montgomery, who appeared in the final two episodes as Billy, has been submitted for the ‘Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series’ award.
The ‘Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series’ category is set to be a competitive field at this year’s Emmys, with promising eligible actors from The Last of Us, Succession, and Better Call Saul all in the queue. The Emmy Awards will be held on September 13th at Westin Bonaventure, Los Angeles.
