‘Stranger Things’ actor "never got a phone call" about season five return

Eduardo Franco, who starred as Argyle in season four of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, has recently revealed he will not return for season five.

During an appearance on the Steve Varley Show on YouTube, Franco was asked why he was notably missing from the cast photo released as the filming for the final season kicked off.

When Franco was asked if his much beloved comic character might return in the fifth and final season, he said: “It’s nice to hear that there’s, there’s some sort of, you know, concern or something, you know what I mean?”

He shared that now production is underway, he assumed he wouldn’t be involved in the upcoming season, saying: “I never got a phone call, so I think that’s it.”

His character, Argyle, was introduced in season four, but it remains unclear if his absence is temporary because of the shooting schedule or is permanently gone. Netflix has so far not confirmed either possibility.

The highly anticipated final season’s release date is yet to be announced, but fans can expect the return of Jamie Campell Bower as Vecna, as well as an in-depth focus on Noah Schnapp’s character, Will Byers.

As fans await the final plot, co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer have been forced to quash rumours about a potential ending to the sci-fi series involving an elaborate Dungeons and Dragons game.
