Steven Knight’s ‘House of Guinness’ is officially returning with a second chapter
The season of Netflix Original renewals is finally upon us, and the drumrolls are not only for The Gentlemen and co. Following a critically acclaimed debut in September 2025, the Guinness family is officially set to return for more in House of Guinness season two, with production due to begin in early 2027.
Speaking of the highly anticipated renewal, creator Steven Knight told Tudum, “It was such a joy to bring the Guinness story to the screen, so I’m beyond thrilled to be continuing the story of one of the world’s greatest dynasties into season two.” “I can’t wait to dive deeper into these characters and their complex relationships as they expand the Guinness empire.”
The debut season of House of Guinness chronicles the aftermath of patriarch Sir Lee Benjamin Guinness’s death, as he leaves his massive brewing kingdom to his four children – Arthur, Edward, Anne and Benjamin, leaving two siblings with everything and two with very little, forcing them to navigate power, family secrets, and social unrest in 1868 Dublin.
Although the first season of the hit Netflix series opens with Sir Benjamin Guinness’s death in 1868, it primarily details how his progeny steps up to protect their legacy brewery, receiving aid from Sean Rafferty, who happened to be the factory’s powerful foreman.
The season builds towards high political stakes, an election campaign for Arthur, and a violent confrontation at a major rally, as the Guinness family receive external threats from Fenian leaders, hell-bent on exploiting their secrets and debts.
So, when House of Guinness returns for a second round, the series will hone in on the next segment of the 19th-century siblings Arthur, Edward, Anne, and Benjamin, alongside their spouses, lovers, foes, and friends, such as family fixer Rafferty.
“There’s so much more to find out about them,” Knight explains. “We’ll see how they grow up because House of Guinness is about a family growing up together. Even in season one, they change quite a bit. In season two, it will be interesting to see what changes and what stays the same.”
The last sound in its season finale is of a gun, and Knight knows exactly how curious fans have been about it. “I want people to wonder where that bullet’s going to go. I’m wondering where that bullet’s going to go,” he says.
“In every generation, there’s an amazing story – more than one. There are loads of amazing stories,” Knight continues. “The family remains eccentric, wild, brilliant, interesting, compelling – all the way through to now.” But until more information on the follow-up chapter arrives, rewatch House of Guinness season one, currently streaming on Netflix.
