Steve Carrell to star opposite Tina Fey in Netflix's 'The Four Seasons'

Steve Carell is set to reunite with friend and former co-star Tina Fey, along with Universal Television in Netflix’s The Four SeasonsThe Office star will be participating in the update of the 1981 Alan Alda feature of the same name. The role will see Tina Fey and Carell perform together again, which is the first time they have shared the screen since the 2010 movie Date Night.

Netflix ordered the show following a bidding war after last year’s dual strikes. Fey is co-creating the adaptation along with her 30 Rock friends Tracey Wigfield and Lang Fisher. It’s rumoured that production for the series will begin later this year.

The original feature film was written and directed by Alan Alda. The story revolves around three couples taking vacations together every season. We get to see the changes in the group dynamic as one of the couples splits up, and the man brings a much younger woman on their subsequent trips.

The Four Seasons comes from Universal Television, who Tina Fey has worked under for years with Little Stranger. Steve Carrell hasn’t worked with the company for a while but has a good relationship with them, given they are responsible for NBC’s update of The Office.

There is a good team behind the show working on the production side of things, which is Fey, Fisher, and Wigfield. All three have teamed up in the past on the Emmy-winning 30 Rock, along with David Miner, Jeff Richmond and Eric Gurian.

Carell’s return to a TV series follows his two-season run on Space Force, which saw him work with the creator of The Office, Greg Daniels, again. He will also be featured in the IF movie, which is all about imaginary friends and was written by his office co-star John Krasinski. Finally, to top off a busy period for the actor, he will also be making his debut on Broadway in Uncle Vanya over the summer.

Despite Fey working a lot since 30 Rock and being a prominent figure in the world of television, she hasn’t starred as the leading actor in a series since her days on 30 Rock. She has worked with Netflix a lot, appearing on the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and the animated series Mulligan.

This story is still developing; more information about The Four Seasons will follow.
