Stephen Graham and Ashley Walters to star in one-shot Netflix drama
After coming off of their respective projects, actors Stephen Graham and Ashley Walters are set to star in a new Netflix drama, Adolescence.
The series promises to be a one-shot film and is being co-produced by Brad Pitt’s company, Plan B Entertainment. It is also being produced by the creators of the series Boiling Point, which premiered on the platform in 2023.
Chronicling the life of 13-year-old Jamie Miller, the story revolves around his family as they make sense of Miller getting arrested after being charged with the death of one of his classmates. Graham is set to play the role of Miller’s father, Eddie, while Walters plays Detective Inspector Bascombe overseeing the case.
Of course, Graham and Walters are far from the only Netflix alums attached to the series. In addition to the leaders behind shows like Toy Boy, Erin Doherty, best known for playing Princess Anne in The Crown, is also attached to the series, playing the role of the criminal psychologist in Miller’s case.
Outside of starring in Boiling Point, the announcement comes after many upcoming projects from Graham. Aside from starring in films like The Irishman, he also starred in the Young Woman and the Sea and is set to reprise his role of Patrick Mulligan in the latest instalment of the Venom series, Venom: The Last Dance.
The series also marks a bit of a return for Walters to the small screen. Despite being productive ever since his work on Top Boy, he has not been announced for any other projects since his work on the series Bulletproof, which ran for six episodes before coming to an end in 2021.
This marks the next in a long line of projects from Plan B Entertainment as well. Beginning in the 2000s, Pitt’s production company has been known for working on numerous blockbusters, including David Fincher’s The Killer from 2023 and most recently on the Bob Marley biopic One Love in 2024. There is also news that the production company is also attached to a biopic on Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell in the near future.
UK independent film company Warp Films is also attached to the project, marking the first series they have worked on since 2020’s Little Birds. As of yet, there has been no word on when the series is set to begin pre-production.
