Seven Netflix shows to keep an eye out for this January
Is it just us, or did anyone notice that Netflix has been acting shady lately? It’s either dropping a brand-new series or bringing back some old gems we placed in a less accessible corner of our mind.
But if you think about it, that makes it better. The best shows aren’t always the ones you plan to watch. They are the ones you click on half-asleep and accidentally binge till the sunrise. The ones you hear about through a friend of a friend, three weeks late, while pretending you totally knew about it first.
And right now, it feels like Netflix is in that phase again. That “New Year, New Me” phase we have all been through. And now that Stranger Things is over, Netflix has to move on, along with all of us.
So before the next batch shows up and these get buried, here are seven series you should absolutely catch while the buzz is still fresh. Or at least before someone spoils the ending on Reddit.
Seven Netflix shows to keep an eye out for this January
Found (January 2nd)
Found is a show about a woman who rescues the missing and hides her own monster in the basement. But do not confuse it with just another crime drama. It’s darker than you think. Gabi runs a crisis management firm that tracks down the lost, but she has her own secret source, which is the man who once kidnapped her. Yep, he is locked up downstairs and still helping her save others. It’s wild.
And that’s what makes this show such a ride. Every missing person case reveals another twisted layer of Gabi’s past. The drama isn’t just in the investigations, though. Instead, it is in the brutal conversations between her and the man in the basement. Two seasons drop together, so you are not just sampling. You have got enough content to keep you busy. And once you are in, it doesn’t let go.
Land of Sin (January 2nd)
The title sounds poetic, right? On the contrary, the show is all grit. Land of Sin is about a detective chasing a missing person, but it quickly becomes a personal war. The missing teenager is part of a town that is basically chewing itself alive with old grudges and family secrets. And with this comes the loyalties that shift faster than your mood.
What makes it worth watching is its sheer rawness. The story is a bit slow, but every interaction adds weight, and that’s the thing we are missing in the world of fast-paced shows. This show takes you on a ride to see how far people will go to protect what they think is theirs. In short, people in this town just don’t know how to stop lying.
The Following (January 3rd)
If you miss those old-school thrillers where FBI agents chase serial killers while the world falls apart behind them, The Following is calling. Kevin Bacon plays a burnt-out agent dragged back to hunt a killer who escaped death row. And guess what? The guy has fans. Like, literal fans who worship him and are ready to kill for him.
It’s not subtle AT ALL. It’s violent and full of people doing stupid things for love or blind loyalty. But it’s also ridiculously addictive. The tension never takes a dip. Every time you think you know who to trust, someone stabs someone: emotionally or literally. And this one’s all three seasons at once, so don’t say you weren’t warned when you are hooked.
Raw (January 5th)
Be ready for a live episode every Monday, and no, not the “watch later” type. Raw is WWE’s weekly dose of drama, sweat, and sheer theatrical madness. If you have been even slightly curious about wrestling, this is your excuse to get in. If you already love it, you know exactly what this is.
The matches are outrageous and more so compared to 2025. And the crowd… It’s going to be louder than ever. Loud enough to shake your screen. It is not just about watching people fight; it’s about watching people perform. Everything is loud and dramatic, and Monday nights haven’t been this entertaining in a while. Don’t even pretend you are not curious.
Pokémon Horizons: Rising Hope – Season 3, Part 1 (January 6th)
The name might sound sweet, but this isn’t just a kids’ show anymore. Rising Hope brings some real stakes to the Pokémon world. Liko and Roy are back, and this time, they are dealing with a creepy pink mist that’s messing with Pokémon across every region. We are talking mystery and danger.
It’s got that same warm-hearted spirit, but the tone has matured. The animation is cleaner, the characters have deeper arcs, and every episode feels like it’s leading to something bigger. If you are someone who still secretly wishes Pokémon felt like it did when you were a kid, but you also want more grown-up storytelling, this hits the sweet spot. Do not skip it just because it’s animated.
11.22.63 (January 7th)
One teacher. One mission. One hell of a mess. 11.22.63 looks like your typical time travel show, but it’s not. This guy is sent back to stop JFK’s assassination, and let’s just say, history doesn’t appreciate being messed with. It’s based on a Stephen King novel, which means there are no clean endings or easy solutions. Just consequences. Brutal ones.
James Franco plays the lead like a man who just keeps digging himself deeper. Every choice feels huge, and even small moments hit like a punch. It’s emotional and deeply frustrating, but it guarantees entertainment. Even if you know how the story ends, and technically, you do, this still manages to make your heart race.
Unlocked: A Jail Experiment – Season 2 (January 7th)
Reality shows rarely surprise anyone anymore, but Unlocked is going to do that to you. In this one, inmates are given way more freedom than usual, and the sheriff just watches to see what they do with it. No scripts or confessions in a fancy room. Just cameras and a whole lot of unpredictability with a generous seasoning of tension.
Season two goes deeper. You see alliances shift and tempers flare. It’s not trying to make heroes or villains. It just shows people trying to figure themselves out under impossible conditions. If you want something real and kind of impossible to look away from, this is it. You won’t be able to stop watching because anything can happen at any moment.
