Netflix has dropped the trailer for the upcoming drama film The Starling that is set to premiere on the streamer on September 24, 2021. The film stars Academy Award-nominee Melissa McCarthy, Emmy-winner Chris O’Dowd and Academy Award-winning actor Kevin Kline.

The trailer is pretty self-explanatory and heartwarming. A couple tries to cope with grief and mourning due to the tragic loss of their baby. The unfurling grief sends the father to rehab, and the mother is left to fend for herself.

As she tries to grapple with grief and loss and a mentally unwell husband, she finds an unlikely avenue to process her trauma and grief. By chasing the territorial Starling birds in the garden, she slowly begins to gain courage and try to heal her wounded self. She once again learns the meaning of love with the help of a psychiatrist-turned-vet.

The film is also starring Timothy Olyphant, Skyler Gisondo, Daveed Diggs, Rosalind Chao, Laura Harrier, Loretta Devine and Kimberly Quinn, and the talented trio directed by Theodore Melfi and based on matt Harris’ moving screenplay.

The film will be produced by Melfi, Chris Parker, Quinn and Dylan Sellers.

McCarthy and O’Dowd, who have previously starred in This is 40, St. Vincent and Bridesmaids, will reunite as the couple in this film that shows a unique way of dealing with grief, tragedy and loss.

O’Dowd will soon be seen alongside Jason Momoa in Slumberland while McCarthy will next be seen in Disney’s live-action film The Little Mermaid and Netflix’s superhero flick Thunder Force.
