Watch Sandra Oh in new Netflix trailer for 'The Chair'

Former Grey’s Anatomy and Killing Eve star Sandra Oh has been revealed as the lead character in Netflix’s latest sitcom, The Chair, which has recently unveiled its new trailer.

The six-episode comedy series from Game of Thrones bosses DB Weiss and David Benioff and co-starring actress Amanda Peet, follows Dr Ji-Yoon Kim (Sandra Oh), the first person of colour to chair the English department at the fictional Pembroke University. Little more than that is known so far, with the latest teaser trailer from Netflix showing only Sandra Oh approach her desk and unveil her brand new nameplate, “Fucker in Charge of you Fucking Fucks”.

Coming off the back of the highly successful Killing Eve, gripping critics and audiences worldwide, Sandra Oh is at the very top of her game having been nominated for several Emmy awards working alongside Emmy-award-winner Jodie Comer. The action, drama from BBC must’ve been a hotbed of creativity behind the scenes, with Comer looking back fondly on her time with Sandra Oh, commenting, “What’s incredible is sometimes you get to set and you can act with people and it can work well and it can be great and then sometimes, a handful of times, you can meet someone and there is so much that goes unsaid”.

Continuing, Comer stated, “There’s a really strong connection and I feel like I found that, felt that, with Sandra from the moment I auditioned with her”. Unfortunately, Jodie Comer doesn’t join Oh for The Chair, which instead sees Two and a Half Men’s Holland Taylor, Transparent star Jay Duplass and 13 Reasons Why’s Nana Mensah.

With few successful original sitcoms to their name, besides 2015s animated F is for Family, The Chair will look to bring some raunchy comedy to the streaming service when it premieres on Netflix on Friday, August 20th.
