Sam Worthington to star in the new Netflix thriller ‘I Will Find You’

Netflix has a brand-new thriller on the way, and it already sounds like the kind of series that’s going to ruin our sleep schedules. It is called I Will Find You, and the setup is as dramatic as it gets. And guess who is leading it? Sam Worthington. Yes, Jake Sully from Avatar is playing a dad serving life in prison for the murder of his own son.

But there is a catch… he didn’t do it. And just when he is resigned to his fate, word comes through that his son might actually be alive. You can almost feel the goosebumps creeping in, right? Because that is when the story really takes off.

In case you are wondering, this is not just any thriller. It is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Harlan Coben. This 63-year-old writer has basically become Netflix’s go-to guy for twisty mysteries that keep us hooked till sunrise. If you have seen Fool Me Once, Stay Close, The Stranger, or Safe, you know exactly what we mean.

But Coben doesn’t just give you a mystery. He gives you whiplash from all the twists. And this time, he is setting his story right in the US instead of bouncing around Europe like most of his previous Netflix hits.

Let’s talk cast for a second because Netflix went all out this time. Worthington is leading the charge as David Burroughs, the wrongly accused father. Britt Lower, who completely stole the show in Severance, plays Rachel, David’s ex-sister-in-law. She is someone who’s trying to claw her way back into journalism and sees this mystery as her shot. Then we’ve got Milo Ventimiglia from This Is Us, stepping in as Rachel’s ex and confidant. The others include Logan Browning, Erin Richards, Jonathan Tucker, Chi McBride, Madeleine Stowe, and Clancy Brown.

Now, back to the story, because it’s not just about a prison break. It is about what happens when David steps outside and realises the truth is way messier than he thought. Apart from his son’s disappearance, his ex-wife has moved on, and on top of that, the FBI is hunting him. David has a mission to find his missing kid while facing betrayal and tons of lies.

According to Tudum, the series is set to run for eight episodes. This is a brilliant decision, as Netflix has observed a recent trend of limited-episode series getting more attention. It gives viewers enough time to keep guessing, but does not take so long that the story drags. And since Coben himself is executive producing, you can bet the show will stay true to the heart-stopping tension of the novel.

As of now, Netflix has not given us a release date, but let’s be real, once it drops, we are all going to clear a weekend and binge it straight through. Because this is not the kind of show you watch slowly. This is the kind of show where you start an episode before bed, and suddenly it’s 4 am and you are questioning all your life choices.
