Ryan Murphy has found more than the ‘Monster’ for the Lizzie Borden story
As the hype grows around Ryan Murphy’s Monster: The Ed Gein Story, a new monster is in the making for the fourth instalment about the Lizzie Borden story on Netflix.
Following a widespread search, the fourth season of Murphy’s hit anthology series found its Lizzie Borden. For the ones who were busy guessing who it could be can rest their minds with Ella Beatty officially helming the show as the notorious young woman accused of slaughtering her parents with an axe.
Best known for her work in Murphy’s Feud: Capote vs The Swans, Beatty is also headed next for Mary Bronstein’s Sundance festival with If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. But in case you thought that’s about it, Netflix still has some casting announcements to turn your head around. Joining the fourth season of Monster alongside Beatty is Vicky Krieps, who’s also about to appear in the upcoming The Ed Gein Story.
Famous for his roles in Phantom Thread and Corsage, Krieps is set to star in the Lizzie Borden story as the titular character’s live-in house help, Bridget Sullivan. Besides these two talented actors, Rebecca Hall has also been confirmed to join the forthcoming Monster instalment, succeeding The Ed Gein Story. The Passing star has joined the ensemble as Borden’s stepmother, Abby Borden.
Moreover, American Horror Story’s Billie Lourd and The End of the F***ing World’s Jessica Barden are also set to appear in the series. They will play Borden’s older sister, Emma, and the character’s celebrity friend, Nance O’Neill. Netflix has also dropped a production window for what’s to come.
The cameras will start rolling for the Lizzie Borden case of the Monster anthology series this fall. Monster: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story’s Max Winkler will be directing the first episode. So, expect the familiar gore.
The first two seasons of the Netflix anthology series, DAHMER – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and Monsters: The Erik and Lyle Menendez Story, have received 24 whopping Emmy nominations in total to date. The former was one of the most-watched shows of all time on Netflix, presently ranking fourth on the chart. Meanwhile, the latter received 11 nods alone at this year’s Primetime Emmys. The third from the catalogue, Monster: The Ed Gein Story, is next in line, scheduled to release on October 3rd. But for more updates on Borden’s story, fans must stay tuned.
