Rosamund Pike to star in new Netflix thriller, ‘Thumblite’
Rosamund Pike has signed on to star in a new Netflix thriller, carrying on her legacy of playing dark and dangerous female characters. This time round, Pike is playing a corporate weapon in Silicon Valley in the upcoming series, Thumblite.
Set in the world of California’s cutthroat business district, Thumblite will deal with schemes and rivalries as brokers battle it out. Playing in the dark underbelly of the fight for success, it’s a ruthless game trying tog gain control of a powerful industry.
Similar to her 2020 comedy thriller, I Care A Lot, which saw Pike play a cold yet twisted con woman, hopefully, Thumblite will deliver that same energy that she has previously mastered to an excellent degree. Best known for her as the ‘cool girl’ Amy Dunne in Gone Girl, Pike plays psychopathy so well, especially when that streak is veiled under a shiny social exterior.
There are no details yet about who this role will see her become or what goings on her character will do in the film. However, with the loose synopsis and Pike’s confirmed part in the programme, it feels certain to be something special.
It certainly has the actor’s seal of approval. Not only is Pike confirmed to play a character in the show, but she’s also signed on as the executive producer. The show’s creator and writer, Scott Z Burns, is also on the production team alongside her, best known for creating action film, The Bourne Ultimatum. Other names on the production panel include Scott Galloway, Greg Jacobs, Michael Ellenberg, and Lindsey Springer for Media Res.
So far, Pike is the only cast member confirmed for the show as the plot and players remain a secret. There’s also no date locked in yet for when the series might hit Netflix or how many episodes there might be.
Even with all those unknowns, the idea of Pike playing a corporate killer in a twisted thriller is enough to get her fans excited, eager to see her back in the shoes of some deeply unlikable yet charismatic figure.
