Romance and rivalries return in ‘Ransom Canyon’ Season 2

If you thought season one of Ransom Canyon gave you enough drama, take a moment and think again. You had everything in the first season of this beloved Netflix show, from love triangles and family secrets to land battles in the Texas Hill Country.

Well, good news for the fans, as Netflix has officially renewed the hit Western romance for a second season, and it promises even more tangled relationships and rivalries when it rides back onto screens.

Created by April Blair and based on Jodi Thomas’ bestselling novels, Ransom Canyon first landed on Netflix in 2024 and quickly became a comfort watch for those who loved romance and small-town drama. It spent four weeks in the Global Top 10 and reached the Top 10 in 77 countries. By this, it cemented itself as one of Netflix’s buzziest newcomers.

Now, the story continues with familiar faces returning and a few new characters ready to stir the pot. So what can viewers expect when Ransom Canyon Season 2 drops? Here’s everything you need to know.

What happened in Season 1?

Season one introduced us to the ranching families of Ransom, Texas. In this season, the spotlight was on stoic rancher Staten Kirkland (played by Josh Duhamel) and community leader Quinn O’Grady (Minka Kelly). Their slow-burning romance was tested by family tragedies and outside forces threatening their land. By the finale, Staten and Quinn finally got together, only for Quinn to accept a life-changing opportunity with the New York Philharmonic.

Meanwhile, Ellie (Marianly Tejada) learnt that her fiancé, Yancy (Jack Schumacher), had unexpectedly inherited Cap Fuller’s (Josh Brolin) ranch, thanks to a long-lost family connection. Just as that bombshell settled, a woman appeared claiming to be Yancy’s wife. This left Ellie’s future in limbo. Add in Davis (Eoin Macken), Staten’s brother-in-law and Quinn’s ex, who caused more trouble than anyone asked for. And that’s how the makers made sure that season one ended with plenty of cliffhangers.

Who’s returning for Season 2?

Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly are definitely going to be back as Staten and Quinn, the couple at the heart of the show’s central romance. Marianly Tejada and Jack Schumacher return as Ellie and Yancy, along with Eoin Macken’s Davis, whose meddling is far from over.

Joining the cast this season are Ben Robson (Animal Kingdom) and Heidi Engerman (Candyman).

What’s the story in Season 2?

Expect season two to pick up where the finale left off. Will Staten follow Quinn to New York, or will their romance falter under the weight of distance? Can Ellie and Yancy survive both a shocking inheritance and a mystery wife? And how long before Davis makes his next move to create chaos?

Showrunner April Blair has teased that Ransom still has plenty of untold stories and that the Texas Hill Country backdrop will continue to play as much of a role as the characters themselves. “

When will it be released?

Netflix has confirmed season two is on the way, but has yet to announce a release date. Given production timelines, fans can likely expect Ransom Canyon to return sometime in 2026.
