Robert Pattinson, Denzel Washington and Daisy Edgar-Jones to star in new Netflix heist movie
Academy Award-nominee Fernando Meirelles will direct a new Netflix heist movie, starring Robert Pattinson, Denzel Washington and Daisy Edgar-Jones.
The plot follows a bank guard scheming with a master thief. It will follow the rise and fall of his relationship with a bank teller and reveal a series of twists that unveil the con game at the centre of everything.
The new Netflix project was announced on May 14th. Simon Kinberg of Mr and Mrs Smith penned the script for the film. According to Netflix’s official logline, Here Comes the Flood is an “unconventional heist movie about a bank guard, a teller, and a master thief in a deadly game of cons and double crosses.”
Washington will star in his fifth movie collaboration with Spike Lee in Highest 2 Lowest, which follows Washington as a gangster figure on the streets of New York. This will be released in US cinemas on August 22nd, 2025, before being made available to stream on Apple TV+ from September 5th. He most recently starred in Gladiator II and the record-breaking Othello on Broadway with Jake Gyllenhaal.
Currently, Washington’s 2018 action sequel, The Equalizer 2, has quietly stormed its way back into the streaming spotlight on Netflix. Best of Netflix said of the movie: “The way Washington delivers brutality without making any noise and reaches his purpose without melodrama is the viewers’ favourite part. While all of this feels very raw, it does not fail in giving the audience chills.”
Edgar-Jones most recently appeared in Daniel Minahan’s On Swift Horses opposite Jacob Elordi, Will Poulter, Diego Calva, and Sasha Calle. She was also cast as musician Carole King in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical, but this project was cancelled due to the script requiring more work.
Pattinson most recently appeared in Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17. He’s next set to appear in A24’s The Drama opposite Zendaya. The much anticipated drama by Lynne Ramsay, Die, My Love, in which Pattinson stars alongside Jennifer Lawrence, will premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
