Robert Downey Jr. joins new Adam McKay Netflix movie

It has been reported that Robert Downey Jr and Robert Pattinson are heading to Netflix. The pair are starring in Adam McKay’s new black comedy, Average Height, Average Build, which was recently acquired by the streaming service.

McKay’s last outing for Netflix was the December 2021 satire Don’t Look Up. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence and Meryl Streep, it is the streaming service’s second most popular film of all time, earning 360million viewing hours in its first 28 days after release.

The new movie follows Pattinson as a serial killer who enlists Amy Adams’ lobbyist to change the law to make it easier for him to get away with his murders. Downey Jr plays a retired police officer trying to solve the murders and catch the killer, who becomes something of a celebrity, with his real intentions a secret to the public. The likes of Danielle Deadwyler and Forest Whitaker are also to star. McKay is writing and directing the project.

Average Height, Average Build is the latest project Downey Jr. is attached to after it was announced that he and Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight are working on a remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo. The actor is also featured in Christoper Nolan’s upcoming biopic Oppenheimer
