Regé-Jean Page teases possible ‘Bridgerton’ season 2 cameo

When it was announced that Regé-Jean Page was leaving Netflix’s Bridgerton after a very successful season one, fans were left heartbroken at the thought of never being able to see the handsome and charismatic Duke in action ever again.

However, recently, the star, whose breakthrough role as Duke of Hastings, Simon Basset, helped capture innumerable hearts globally, has revealed the prospect of an enticing cameo in the upcoming season two.

Not even Kim Kardashian could hide her disappointment at Bridgerton’s very heartfelt goodbye note by Lady Whistledown to the Duke when they took to Instagram to say: “We bid adieu to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings.”

The post also said that they would “miss Simon’s presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family.”

They also stated, “Daphne will remain a devoted wife and sister, helping her brother navigate the upcoming social season and what it has to offer – more intrigue and romance than my readers may be able to bear.”

When British GQ pestered Page with questions, the actor was initially coy about the proposition, saying how he could not reveal anything about the show. However, he sparked fan attention when he cheekily said, “Isn’t there something wonderful about being surprised by what you weren’t suspecting?”

However, Page has said that he is no longer a part of the show’s WhatsApp group chat. “I respectfully exited,” he said. “I didn’t want to put them in an awkward situation where they had to kick me out.”

The actor has already signed up for a Russo brothers project alongside Chris Pine, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas and Ryan Gosling, titled The Grey Man, besides Dungeons & Dragons

Page is also being considered as a frontrunner to reprise the role of the suave British spy James Bond following Daniel Craig’s exit. The actor found this extremely “pleasant” and “flattering” yet had nothing to add to these speculations.

Netflix has not commented on rumours regarding Page’s possible cameo yet.
