Prince Harry's Invictus Games documentary arrives on Netflix rival Hulu

Fans have been left surprised by the new Prince Harry documentary, Mission: Life, Family, and Invictus Games, arriving on Hulu, the Disney-owned rival to Netflix.

The latest news has caused something of a stir for fans and others in the industry, as the Sussex’s are currently under a million-dollar, five-year deal with Netflix, which was signed in 2020. Naturally, for Harry’s new documentary on the Invictus Games to arrive on Hulu seemingly unannounced has prompted many questions.

The series premiered on Hulu on February 25th. The news about it arriving on the direct competitor to Netflix follows reports in 2023 that the $100million deal between the streaming giant and the Sussex’s was already in jeopardy as the couple were facing pressure to deliver on what their promised “great ideas”.

As Royal fanatics are aware, Harry’s father, King Charles was recently diagnosed with cancer, which saw Harry visit his dad, despite officially stepping down from royal duties in 2020. The new documentary heavily uses Harry’s interview with ABC News’ Will Reeve following his surprise visit home.

Per a report in the Daily Mail, a source claims that Harry would have known about the use of the interview, as he would have been required to sign a release form to allow ABC to make the footage into a documentary for Hulu. Furthermore, “a senior source” at Netflix appeared to be taken aback by the news of Hulu screening the film.

In 2022, the six-part series, Harry and Meghan, which follows the lives of the Sussexes, was a success on Netflix. Focusing on their origins and backstory and moving to the US with their two children, the latest news has left viewers who have been eager to watch the next installment wondering if it will ever come to fruition.
