Peaky Blinders is currently under investigation due to production on their sixth series allegedly breaching COVID-19 safety regulations.
The Guardian first reported the investigation. The publication stated they understood producers of the hit series are accused of allowing production on the programme to continue despite one staff member testing positive for COVID-19, which puts everyone else working on the show at risk.
Production on the sixth series of Peaky Blinders began in January. However, they were forced to pause filming last week after a crew member tested positive for coronavirus. In the end, the test was a false-positive. However, in the interim period before they discovered this, it is alleged that producers allowed filming to continue for hours. Production only stopped after another member of staff found out and stopped production.
It has been confirmed to The Guardian by The Broadcasting, Entertainment, Communications and Theatre Union (BECTU) that they were investigating the allegations.
“The safety protocols are in place to create a safe working environment for cast and crew. Therefore the production should have informed everyone immediately and stopped filming,” national secretary Spencer MacDonald said.
“Otherwise a lapse like this could have contributed towards the spread of the virus. We are currently waiting for the production to respond.”
Meanwhile, it was recently announced that Stephen Graham had joined the star-studded cast for the latest series.
