‘Office Romance’ ending explained: Are Jackie and Daniel finally together?
No matter how much we love the pressure cooker tension of workplace rom-coms, they come with their fair share of risks and uncertainty, just like Office Romance on Netflix.
The Netflix romantic comedy stars Jennifer Lopez as Jackie Cruz, the laser-focused CEO of Air Cruz, who has made a reputation as a cold, ruthless, and steadfast leader whose very presence is enough to make employees hide under desks. So, when her trusted attorney falls sick, she has no option but to bring in a new lawyer, Daniel, to join the company.
Although the first impression doesn’t go great with the new lawyer fumbling initially, the deposition sets her perspective straight, prompting a space of mutual affection. While they constantly find reasons to be around one another, things ultimately get serious when they travel to the Dominican Republic for work, prompting a whirlwind romance.
But the news of their affair has to be under wraps due to company policy and, of course, Jackie’s public image. However, if you think that’s the breaking point, making viewers question if they ultimately end up together, you’re wrong.
Do Jackie and Daniel end up together in Office Romance?
Jackie and Daniel do reach their breaking point in Office Romance, particularly when the former opens up wholeheartedly, but the latter fails to reciprocate. Although their love story reaches its peak, they start getting concerned about their future together, especially given the company policy. But what stings more to Jackie is the fact that she still feels like she doesn’t know him very well. That said, initially, she gives him the space without a second thought.
But curiosity ultimately kicks in when Daniel tells him he has to handle some personal stuff without mentioning any little detail. She decides to follow him, discovering that he had been secretly meeting his incarcerated sister Lizzie, with whom she also interacts. But Daniel doesn’t take Jackie’s action well, believing it is an encroachment on his privacy. While Jackie doesn’t share his perspective, the rift grows paramount before her impending trial.
After considering what’s at stake, including the idea that going public with Daniel would validate her competitors’ argument about her promiscuity, they decide to part ways. However, since the feelings are far from gone, Daniel decides to resign, only to come to a realization that all he really wants is to be with Jackie.
Soon after, Daniel opts for a swoon-worthy declaration of love, with Jackie reciprocating the feelings. Meanwhile, she decides to step down as the CEO after she falls victim to a blackmail no one sees coming. However, Daniel feels that despite it all, Jackie must fight for what she has built, and now with him by his side, there’s probably no reason to look back anymore.
