New trailer released for 'Blockbuster', featuring ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ and Marvel stars

Randall Park of WandaVision and Melissa Fumero of Brooklyn Nine-Nine have joined forces to create a new and upcoming Netflix comedy series set in a workplace entitled Blockbuster. The first trailer for the show has now been released.

The setting of the show is, unsurprisingly, Blockbusters, the infamous video rental shops that were the bastion of the home cinema experience in the early part of the 21st Century. However, with the advent of video streaming, Blockbusters (and many other shops like it) saw the end of their success, which is ironic considering Netflix themselves are streaming the show.

The new series features ten episodes set in the last remaining Blockbusters store in Oregon, following the staff, including Park’s character, store manager Timmy Yoon.

When Yoon discovers that the store’s days are few, he and his employees come together to try and unite the local community and save their store. Fumero’s character, Eliza, also returns to the store. She was once an employee of Yoon’s (as well as his crush), and she has recently separated from her husband.

Joining the cast are Tyler Alvarez from American Vandal, Madeleine Arthur of To All The Boys, Kamaia Fairburn from Star FallsIn The Heights Olga Merediz and Curb Your Enthusiasm’s JB Smoove.

Randall Park had played Jimmy Woo in Wandavision, a character he reprised in Ant-Man and the Wasp and the forthcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Fumero had performed on Brooklyn Nine-Nine as Amy Santiago, and Blockbuster will see her work with show creator Vanessa Ramos once more, as well as Olga Merediz, who played Julia Diaz on the beloved cop sitcom.

Fumero will also soon team up with Brooklyn Nine-Nine lead Andy Samberg for the animated show Digman!, which will soon air on Comedy Central in the first quarter of 2023. Blockbuster will hit Netflix on November 3rd this year.
