New ‘Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man’ trailer finally unveiled
A month before the long-awaited film is set to hit Netflix, the trailer for Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man has finally been unveiled.
The highly-anticipated film is directed by Tom Harper and written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight. It premieres in select theatres on March 6th before it hits Netflix on March 20th.
“Tommy, you live in a house haunted with ghosts. Of people who died because of you,” A whispery, sinister voice, belonging to Rebecca Ferguson’s character, opens the new trailer, “You abandoned your kingdom, and you abandoned your son.”
She adds, “Your gypsy son is running the Peaky Blinders like it’s 1919 all over again.” The film is set in Birmingham in 1940. Amidst the chaos of WWII, Tommy Shelby, played by Cillian Murphy, is driven back from a self-imposed exile to face his most destructive reckoning yet.
“The world don’t give a fuck about me, and I don’t give a fuck about the world,” Barry Keoghan’s character, Duke Shelby, grimaces in the trailer.
Later, Hayden Stagg, played by Adolescence star Stephen Graham, addresses Murphy’s character directly, sneering, “I’ve heard you’ve decided this wasn’t your war,” to which Murphy replies, “It is now.”
Shelby sets out on a hunt for his son. He is joined by other cast members like Academy Award nominee Tim Roth, Sophie Rundle, Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee, Ian Peck, and Jay Lycurgo.
A familiar voice rounds out the trailer; Fontaines D.C.’s Grian Chatten has contributed a new recording to the Peaky Blinders soundscape. Long-time Peaky Blinders collaborators Antony Genn and Martin Slattery have returned to compose the film’s original score, which also features Amy Taylor from Amyl & the Sniffers.
In addition to the film, it was announced last October that Peaky Blinders would be returning for a further two series, which will air on the BBC and Netflix.
