Everything new coming to Netflix in January 2021
2020 has been a tough year for us all. Physically and emotionally draining, the year has taken away too much and given nothing but pain, suffering and loss. While the rest of the world waited anxiously to ring in the new year 2021 as they are hopeful for positive changes, cinephiles and binge-watchers waited with bated breath to see what January 2021 has in store for us.
Streaming platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime have been our best friends in those dark, tumultuous times. Stuck within the four walls, the light from our laptop or TV screens have offered warmth and comfort. While Netflix wow-ed us with quite a few shows and documentaries last year, we are hoping for a bigger and better run this year to nurse and heal our wounds post-2020.
Despite quite a few flops, films like Mank, I’m Thinking of Ending Things, Horse Girl, His House, Da 5 Bloods and more sent ripples through the audience. Netflix fared a lot better on the TV shows and documentaries front with quite a few amazing releases like The Social Dilemma, Tiger King, Miss Americana, Ratched, The Haunting of Bly Manor, The Queen’s Gambit, Freud, Curon among others.
In January 2021, there will be quite a few interesting releases. However, at the same time, there will be a few tragic losses as well where some audience favourites shall be leaving the site. They include Bloodsport, Mara, The Monster, The Tudors (s1-14), Mary Poppins Returns, The Master, Dallas Buyers Club, We Are Your Friends, Pineapple Express among others. The Office bids goodbye to Netflix US on January 31, 2020, while FRIENDS has already left the platform on the first day of the month.
However, grab some popcorn and show some excitement for the best is yet to come.
