Netflix’s secret codes for horror movies and series this Halloween

Streaming giant Netflix has been using a code system for years now, and for this year’s approaching Halloween, they’re using an extensive list of them to help users find hidden horror movies and series.

Split into various categories, these can be accessed easily on the web and by typing the codes into the search bar on the mobile and TV apps. If you’re watching on the internet, the following URL should be used: netflix.com/ browse/genre/INSERTNUMBER.

For this year’s Halloween, Netflix has launched the Enter If You Dare collection of movies; this follows last year’s spooky special, Stream and Scream. The 2023 set includes the following genres: All the Scares, Light on the Gore, Dark Films, Psychological Horror Movies, Werewolf Horror Movies and Zombies, Vampires and Ghouls, as well as many others.

There’s also a category called ‘The Flanaverse’, which is the collective name given by fans to all the movies and series of Mike Flanagan, the horror master who has had a decade-long working relationship with Netflix. He is the mind behind The Haunting of Hill House and the upcoming show, The Fall of the House of Usher. His code is: 81642617.

The new collection also comes with new artwork featuring references to the hit spooky Netflix originals Stranger Things and Wednesday. Classic horror, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, is also given a nod.
