Netflix’s ‘Never Have I Ever’ renewed for a fourth and final season

Netflix has renewed Never Have I Ever for a fourth and final season after announcing the third season in August 2021. While the release date for season three has not yet been announced, the fourth season renewal came as a surprise to fans and Netflix users.

Variety says the third season has wrapped production and will most likely debut “over the summer”.

Creators Mindy Kaling and lang Fisher had previously promised to “reveal [all] the steamy romance and hilarious adventures” in the upcoming show.

Never Have I Ever is a comedy-drama series that revolves around a first-generation Indian-American girl, Devi. It chronicles her journey through high school as she navigates adolescence, the grief of losing her father, friendships, academic pressure and love triangles.

The show stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Richa Moorjani, Darren Barnet, Poorna Jagannathan, Jaren Lewison, Ramona Young, Lee Rodriguez, John McEnroe and others.

The show has amassed a dedicated fan following who are endeared by Devi’s clumsiness, confusion and ditzy nature as she tries to make sense of all the changes around her.

Bela Bajaria, the head of global TV at Netflix, has highly praised the series, calling it “authentic, funny and full of heart”. She also reiterated how “deeply” she relates to it being an Indian-American as the show manages to touch on a lot of “universal truths that resonate with just everyone”.

If the third season premieres this year, the fourth and final season will likely premiere sometime next year.
