Netflix's 'Bridgerton' dethroned by new reality series

Produced by Shonda Rhimes and created by Chris Van Dusen, the Regency-era period drama Bridgerton has been Netflix’s tour de force. With a successful debut back in 2020, the show released its second season this year and has been reigning on the Netflix Top 10 list ever since.

With lavish sets and flowing ball gowns, the series is adapted from Julia Quinn’s eponymous novel series and focuses on the manners and etiquette of the upper echelons of aristocratic England during the courting season.

Starring Jonathan Bailey, Simone Ashley, Nicola Coughlan, Adjoa Andoh, Phoebe Dynevor, Claudie Jessie and others, the new season is rife with forbidden yearning and sexual tension and romance. However, a new reality series has dethroned Bridgerton since its release and has become the viewers’ latest obsession.

A spin-off to the fan-favourite speed-dating reality show Love is Blind, Ultimatum: Marry or Move On has an extreme twist on its predecessor.

Hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey, the show is helmed by the Love is Blind crew and focuses on couples aiming for marriage, the inevitable disasters, pre-marital jitters and cold feet.

With six different couples on the show, one of them is pretty confident about the upcoming nuptials while the other is jittery. The show offers a “life-changing opportunity to get a glimpse of two different possible futures.”

The show debuted on April 6th, 2022, and the finale will premiere today on April 13th, 2022.
