Netflix’s ‘Arcane’ and ‘Love, Death + Robots’ win big at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards

Netflix doesn’t believe in ceilings of success. However, if it did, it would probably look somewhat like Arcane and Love, Death + Robots.

The former adult-animated series just made waves at the 77th Creative Arts Emmy Awards in the City of Angels with its second win in the category of ‘Outstanding Animated Program,’ following its 2022 win. The award ceremony took place at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, California, over the weekend, where Arcane shone like never before.

Despite being up against formidable opponents, including Bob’s Burgers, Common Side Effects, The Simpsons, and Love, Death + Robots, Arcane bagged the trophy home, leaving everyone blinded with its stardust. Additionally, this marks Netflix’s second consecutive win in the category after Blue Eye Samurai’s win last year.

But if you think that’s how far Arcane went this Emmys, hold your horses! The second season of Arcane minted three additional wins at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards.

It won in award categories including the ‘Outstanding Sound Editing for an Animated Program,’ the ‘Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation for Background Design,’ and ‘Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation for Colour.’ Although Netflix pulled the curtain on the beloved adult animated series with a second season, the frenzy, recognition, and the magic clearly live on.

Meanwhile, Love, Death + Robots also didn’t let go of this award ceremony easily. Giving its animated competitor a run for its money, the anthology series won four different categories. It took home the trophies for ‘Character Animation,’ ‘Character Animation,’ ‘Production Design,’ and ‘Storyboard Individual Achievement.’

Although Apple TV’s The Studio, HBO’s The Penguin, and Apple TV’s Severance lead the Emmy ceremony with 9,8, and 6 wins respectively, Netflix’s adult animated catalogue ensures the streamer has its head held high. While the overall outcome may not be the one of dreams, the credit must go where it’s due, to Arcane and Love, Death + Robots.
