Netflix turns down possible bundles for MAX and Disney+
After negotiations to potentially bundle multiple streaming services under one roof, Netflix has elected not to move forward with any collaboration with MAX and Disney+.
This follows in a line of streaming services trying to give customers the best deal by only paying one bill for both services. Disney+ had been the most recent example, pairing their eclectic brand of entertainment with the streaming mogul, Hulu.
According to Netflix, they had stepped away from partnering with any fellow companies due to their brand of content, saying, “We haven’t bundled Netflix solely with other streamers like Disney+ or Max because Netflix already operates as a go-to destination for entertainment thanks to the breadth and variety of our slate and superior product experience.”
The company continued to say that its usual approach of working with a wide variety has made it less feasible to work with other streaming outlets. Rather than try to reach a bigger market than it already has, Netflix has stated that the number of different styles that it covers “limits the benefit of bundling with other companies.”
The streaming giant has also been proud to build its company on its relationship with pay TV. Despite opposing partnerships with strictly streaming services, it has struck deals to work with TV platforms such as Peacock and Apple TV+.
The company would share that this type of engagement is a much better move for its future, explaining, “These partnerships are a win-win—making it simple for people to discover, sign up, use, and pay for Netflix. In turn, our device and operator partners benefit through increased device sales from consumers seeking devices integrated with Netflix and greater customer acquisition.”
Of course, Netflix has also been seeing a massive surge in sales recently. According to the latest reports, the streaming platform gained over 8 million new customers over the last quarter and is looking to have a more successful year than 2023, when it initially grossed over $2billion.
That trend has been spearheaded by many new series being acquired by Netflix, including the animated series Rick and Morty, which had dethroned the drama series Bridgerton as one of the most streamed programs on the platform. The service is also preparing for the release of the final season of the sci-fi series Stranger Things, which is currently reaching the end of production.
