Netflix to premiere new K-drama ‘Gyeongseong Creature’ starring Claudia Kim

Netflix has confirmed Claudia Kim’s involvement with the new K-drama series Gyeongseong Creature, which the streaming service will also be premiering globally. Netflix has managed to secure exclusive streaming rights to the highly-anticipated fantasy-thriller. As of yet, a specific premiere date has not been revealed.

Gyeongseong Creature takes place in the spring of 1945 and follows the lives of individuals living in the colonial city of Gyeongseong (now Seoul) during Japan’s rule over Korea. But don’t be fooled into thinking this is a straight-up period drama: in the world of Gyeongseong Creature, humans live alongside ravenous creatures born out of human greed.

News of Gyeongseong Creature arrived in the first weeks of 2022, at which time the cast was also announced. The series will feature Park Seo-jun (Itaewon Class, The Marvels) and Han So-hee (My Name, Nevertheless) in leading roles, while Wi Ha-joon of Squid Game and Bad And Crazy will take on a supporting role.

Now, Netflix has announced that Claudia Kim of Avengers: Age Of Ultron and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald will also join the cast. She will star as Maeda, the wife of a government official in Gyeongseong.

Park Seo-joon, meanwhile, will take on the role of Jang Tae-sang, a wealthy and reputable figure from Gyeongseong’s Bukchon Hanok Village. His best friend, Kwon Jun-taek, will be played by Wi Ha-joon. The screenplay for Gyeongseong Creature has been penned by Kang Eun-kyung, the brains behind the Dr. Romantic series. It is directed by Stove League’s Jung Dong-yoon.
