Netflix set to adapt upcoming Dan Brown book ‘The Secret of Secrets’ into a series

Netflix has announced a new addition to its line-up of book adaptations. After an intense battle of negotiations, they bought the rights to The Secret of Secrets by Dan Brown. This book is yet to be released and will be the sixth instalment in the author’s famous Robert Langdon series.

Brown has gone as far as claiming the book to be the most intricate and fun one that he has ever written. There has been an eight-year gap between his last instalment and the upcoming one. This book series gained massive fanfare through the global success of The Da Vinci Code.

The book will be released on September 9th. It revolves around another mystery involving the fan-favourite Robert Langdon, who is a symbologist and professor at Harvard. This time he finds himself caught in the chaos of a missing scientist. On a mission to find her, he also needs to look for her manuscript, which contained transformative findings about the human mind. In classic Dan Brown style, this novel will be a blend of nail-biting suspense and intriguing transcendental tales.

There have already been three film adaptations of his books, The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, and Inferno. They were directed by Ron Howard and featured Tom Hanks as the symbologist. The Lost Symbol saw a series adaptation in 2021 by Peacock. However, the series was cancelled after only one season.

The mystery thriller novel will be made into a series. Brown has been announced as one of the creators, writers and executive producers of the upcoming series. Carlton Cuse will be the showrunner for this.

Cuse is very experienced with book adaptations. He has previously created the series Jack Ryan, which is based on Tom Clancy’s books of the same name. His trajectory of successful adaptations also includes the Netflix series Locke & Key. Based on the graphic novels by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez, Locke & Key was developed, written, and directed by Cuse.

Currently, he is also working to adapt a Star Wars series along with his son, who is also a writer, Nick Cuse. The Secret of Secrets will be a welcome addition to Netflix’s treasure trove of book adaptations, which include Bridgerton, You and Queen’s Gambit.
