Netflix ties with HBO for the most Emmy 2025 trophies
Netflix this, Netflix that – but do you know what it really is? It is officially the platform with the most Emmy wins in 2025, alongside its streaming rival, HBO.
Netflix and HBO managed to lock horns this award season for the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, each claiming 30 impressive trophies. It’s safe to say that Netflix is not only raining with cats and content, but also gold.
The streaming giant earned 120 nominations across 44 titles, winning 30 awards at the ceremony held in Los Angeles. Adolescence, the record-breaking one-shot limited series, was one of the biggest winners of the night, taking home eight awards, six of seven being in the limited series categories. Netflix made history with Owen Cooper winning the ‘Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series’ as the youngest male actor to ever win in the category.
Meanwhile, HBO’s The Penguin led with nine awards, earning the only exception in the limited series category by grabbing the honour for Cristin Milioti’s role.
Despite their trailblazing performances, neither Netflix nor HBO were the biggest winner for the 2025 ceremony. Apple TV+’s The Studio had the television industry bowing down with 13 staggering wins to its name. It singlehandedly skyrocketed and broke The Bear’s single-year record in 2024 with 11 wins. Surprisingly, The Bear won no awards this Emmy season, even after 13 nominations.
Additionally, Severance from Apple TV+ has tied with Adolescence with eight total Emmy awards. But pigeonholing our focus to Netflix wins, the adult animated series catalogue also paid off with big numbers. Both Arcane and Love, Death + Robots have bagged four trophies each, earning the second-most wins for Netflix following Adolescence.
Bridgerton carried the night with three awards while Love on the Spectrum clutched gold twice. Netflix had the upper hand in the Creative Arts Emmys over HBO/Max with 24 awards compared to their 21 wins. However, the latter had the last laugh at the Primetime Emmys with three more trophies over Netflix’s, resulting in a 9-6 scoreboard.
Other Netflix winners include Queer Eye, Conan O’Brien: The Kennedy Centre Mark Twain Prize for American Horror, Chef’s Table, Our Oceans, Cunk on Life, Rebel Ridge, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Mendez Story, and Beyoncé Bowl.
