Netflix share the first teaser for Chris Rock comedy special

Netflix has released the very first teaser for the upcoming Chris Rock stand-up special Selective Outrage, a live show which will be the first of its kind on the streaming platform.

The short teaser features the B Bun song ‘The Best Is Back’, as we see Rock walk from the green room of the theatre all the way to the front of the stage with Netflix advertising a “first ever global live event”. Streamed on Saturday, March 4th at 10 pm ET, the show will feature no edits at all, allowing audiences to experience a live Chris Rock performance as if they were in the front-row seat.

Though the event is a first for Netflix, it’s Rock’s seventh broadcast comedy special and his second to premiere on the streaming service.

Announcing the news last month, Netflix’s vice president of stand-up and comedy formats, Robbie Praw, stated: “Chris Rock is one of the most iconic and important comedic voices of our generation. We’re thrilled the entire world will be able to experience a live Chris Rock comedy event and be a part of Netflix history. This will be an unforgettable moment and we’re so honored that Chris is carrying this torch”.

Rock became a prominent figure in the entertainment world in 2022 after he was slapped across the face by Will Smith live at the Academy Awards. Smith was banned from the prestigious awards show for ten years, thanks to his violent behaviour.
