Netflix shares a first look at ‘Devil May Cry’ season 2
No matter how many spins showbiz puts on blade-wielding demonology, the combination will always be the one to die for. And if you’ve loved what Netflix did with the chart-climbing animated sensation, Devil May Cry, in season one, there’s good news for you.
The streaming giant recently shared a first look at Devil May Cry’s second season on August 22nd, which was renewed earlier this year.
Netflix released a one-minute first-look trailer, which shows Dante going in full force for a one-on-one sword clash with none other than, yes, you guessed it right, his undead twin brother, Vergil. “I hoped it would be you, little brother,” Vergil says, before locking horns and Netflix strategically pulls the cut to send viewers on the edge of their seats.
Devil May Cry revolves around Dante, a professional demon bounty hunter, who is himself a partial demon. While the malevolent White Rabbit unleashes hellish forces on Earth, Dante must join forces with DARKCOM to get to the crux of the demonic havoc in order to find a way to stop them once and for all.
The first season of Devil May Cry was released on Netflix in April 2025. And the streamer wasted no time renewing it for a second, underscoring the fan following the adaptation received with its streaming entry. So far, so long, the first-look trailer promises to be a chilling showdown between the brothers, who are anything but advocates of normal siblinghood. But for those out of the loop, here’s what the Netflix show is all about.
Devil May Cry is based on an uber-popular video game franchise of the same name by Capcom, starring an A-lister voice cast including Johnny Yong Bosch, Robbie Daymond, Chris Coppola, Ian James Corlett, and Kevin Conroy, among others. Netflix ordered eight episodes for its inaugural season, which debuted at number four on Netflix’s global top ten charts.
The Netflix animated series amassed a whopping 5.3million views within the first three days, becoming a top ten title in 87 countries. The adaptation is a co-creation of Castlevania showrunner Adi Shankar and Studio Mir.
With Dante levelling up in more ways than one and Vergil back in the game, there’s so much more to look forward to in the second instalment. The second season is slated for a release on the streamer sometime in 2026. However, the exact release window remains under wraps.
