Netflix share trailer for ‘Black Mirror’ season seven
The first trailer for Black Mirror season seven has been dropped by Netflix, setting tongues wagging by revealing that the show is bringing back characters and storylines from earlier seasons for the first time.
The season four episode ‘USS Callister’ is getting a sequel this season, with The Penguin star Cristin Milioti reprising her role as computer programmer Nanette Cole. She is joined by other actors from the episode, including Billy Magnussen’s Karl, Milanka Brooks’ Elena, and Osy Ikhile’s Nate, in addition to Jimmi Simpson’s James Walton, a character who seemingly died in the previous episode.
On top of that, Will Poulter and Asim Chaudhry will be returning as their characters from the 2019 choose-your-own-adventure movie Black Mirror: Bandersnatch.
The Day of the Jackal star Jay Simpson will also give fans a real blast from the past because he is returning as the character Rod Senseless from the very first episode of Black Mirror, ‘The National Anthem.’
The trailer also gives fans glimpses of new actors who will join Charlie Brooker’s twisted technological world for season seven: Paul Giamatti, Awkwafina, Peter Capaldi, Emma Corrin, Chris O’Dowd, Rashida Jones, and Issa Rae. The season will consist of six episodes, and will drop on Netflix on April 10th.
Black Mirror began on Channel 4 in 2011, but Netflix purchased the rights for the third season, which dropped in 2016. The series has enjoyed 14 Emmy nominations and eight wins, including three consecutive wins for ‘Outstanding TV Movie’ between 2017 and 2019, thanks to the episodes ‘San Junipero,’ and the previously mentioned ‘USS Callister,’ and ‘Bandersnatch.’
It has previously featured starring performances from A-list actors like Josh Hartnett, Salma Hayek, Anthony Mackie, Miley Cyrus, Jesse Plemons, Bryce Dallas Howard, Daniel Kaluuya, and Jon Hamm.
