Netflix share new trailer for ‘Stranger Things’ season five

Netflix have shared a brand new trailer for the highly anticipated fifth season of Stranger Things.

For the fifth and final season of the record-breaking sci-fi series, Netflix are breaking up the release of the episodes. Rather than unleash the entire series in one drop, the first batch of episodes will arrive on November 27th, the second half of the season will then be released on December 26th, ahead of the finale on January 1st, 2026.

The synopsis for the new season of Stranger Things reads: “The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding.”

It continues: “As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.”

Fans of Stranger Things have been forced to agonisingly wait more than three years for the forthcoming series, which marks the first season since 2022.

The delay was somewhat due to the Hollywood strikes in 2023, which brought the writing process to a halt and caused the entire operation to be postponed for many months. Filming finally took place throughout 2024, with the first scenes being shot in January ahead of a December wrap, and it has since been in post-production throughout this calendar year.

Meanwhile, David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper, recently expressed his relief at Stranger Things ending, stating, “You’re having to play a lot of the same beat, and there’s a feeling where you’re like, ‘I want to take a risk. I want to do something that people haven’t seen me do before.’ So yeah, after 10 years, it’s like, ‘OK.’”
