Netflix scores big at BAFTA TV Awards 2026 thanks to ‘Adolescence’

Doing a total awards sweep is one thing… And then there is whatever Adolescence just did at the BAFTA TV Awards 2026. What a night for Netflix, whoop! It walked into London’s Royal Festival Hall already looking fairly confident, which was because Adolescence had the nominations pack on 11 nods. And by the end of the evening, it had cleaned the aisle.

Adolescence had four major wins. Four! Not bad for a series that’s spent the past year captivating people and then ruining them emotionally. Actually, it’s used to it, given the number of awards it has gained over the last year.

The big headline, of course, was Adolescence taking home the award for Best Limited Drama, cementing its place as one of the biggest British television success stories of the past year. And really, if you have seen it, you probably aren’t shocked. The series has been absolutely everywhere. And the fact that it was just a limited episode show makes it even more compelling.

Finally, Stephen Graham also won Leading Actor for his performance in the series, which felt inevitable. The man has reached that stage of British television where he barely even needs introducing anymore. Put Stephen Graham anywhere, and that’s enough for people to press play. Fair assumption, to be honest.

Then came wins for Christine Tremarco and Owen Cooper in the supporting actress and supporting actor categories, meaning Adolescence pretty much dominated the acting awards, which is quite rare, really. You generally get one standout performance, keeping its winning streak going while the others quietly clap from the sidelines. Not this time. The winner takes it all.

In all fairness, Netflix and Adolescence needed a night like this. Competition between OTTs has become absolutely brutal lately. Every OTT you know is desperately throwing expensive dramas at viewers with the hope that they will become cultural obsessions. But Adolescence managed to do that with a realistic story and a comparatively smaller budget.

Elsewhere during the ceremony, Netflix also picked up another win thanks to The Studio, which won in the International category. Seth Rogen accepted the award and paid tribute to Catherine O’Hara, who stars in the series. He said that her work had been hugely important to audiences both in Britain and abroad. It was a nice moment.

Outside of Netflix, there were plenty of other winners, too. Last One Laughing got the Entertainment award, while The Celebrity Traitors continued its unstoppable rise by winning in the Reality category. Meanwhile, Code of Silence took home Drama Series, and Amandaland won Scripted Comedy.

Still, though, the night belonged to Adolescence. Completely and utterly. It was delightful to watch the cast run to the stage back-to-back.

So yes, massive night for Netflix. Massive night for Adolescence. It was a massive night for everyone who worked hard to create this masterpiece.
