Netflix reveals the first look at ‘Blue Eye Samurai’ Season 2

Dear anime fam, it is happening. Mizu is back with the swords out, and this time, she has “a lot more blood to spill”. With that, Netflix just dropped a sneak peek of Blue Eye Samurai season two, and it looks amazing.

Remember how season one left us dangling on the edge of our seats with that sail into the unknown? Well, sharpen your katanas, because the next chapter is about to take us beyond Japan and straight into the fire.

Season one of the show was already a masterpiece. It wasn’t just anime; it was art. The animation was ridiculously gorgeous, the sword fights had you holding your breath, and the story? Pure fire. Mizu wasn’t just fighting enemies… she was fighting centuries of prejudice and carving her own path through blood and destiny. By the end, she wasn’t just a character we rooted for. Instead, she became an icon.

Now season two is upping the stakes. The sneak peek shows Mizu heading into uncharted waters, literally, as she sails toward London. She still has unfinished business with her remaining potential fathers. And as far as we know her, she is not exactly going to be serving tea and crumpets when she arrives.

The creators, Amber Noizumi and Michael Green, teased in her interview with Netflix that she has “a lot more blood to spill,” and honestly, we believe them.

And let’s also talk about the vibe. Where season one was set in the Edo period of Japan, grounded in history and culture. Although season two looks like it is about to mash worlds together. The question hanging in the air: how will Europe react to Mizu? More importantly, how will she react to them? If the first season was about finding her identity, the second looks like it is about testing it against a whole new world.

Of course, part of the hype also comes from the voice cast, which is still ridiculously stacked. Maya Erskine returns as our queen Mizu, Kenneth Branagh is back as Abijah Fowler, and the supporting cast is packed with legends like George Takei, Brenda Song, Stephanie Hsu, Ming-Na Wen, and Randall Park. It is basically a Netflix anime dream team.

What’s wild is that the creators had this season planned before the first one even aired. They just needed enough of us to show up and watch. Well, clearly we did, because not only did Blue Eye Samurai blow up, it became one of the most talked-about animated shows on Netflix. Now the payoff is here.

So yes, Blue Eye Samurai season two is on the horizon, and from the sneak peek, it’s bloodier and bolder than ever. Mizu’s blade isn’t done talking. And if this is what Netflix has in store, 2025 might just belong to her.
