Netflix reveals details and release date for ‘Bridgerton’ season four
The fan-favourite Netflix series Bridgerton is slated to return for a fourth season. The streamer giant shared with its audience today that their patience for the upcoming season will be rewarded in 2026.
The fourth season much like its preceding seasons will be focused around the romance of one Bridgerton sibling. This pattern of storytelling is similar to that of its source material, the book series by Julia Quinn.
A much-awaited fourth season is announced to be centred around the second-oldest Bridgerton sibling, Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thompson. Known to be one of the most popular siblings, Benedict will be romancing Sophie Baek, played by Yerin Ha.
As a cherry on top, Netfix even announced the renewal of the show for two more seasons after 2026 release. To add to the already brewing excitement, the showrunners even released a special sneak peek into the fourth season. The minute-long clip finds Benedict at a masquerade ball as his eyes fall on Sophie Baek who was admiring an extravagant chandelier. This short interaction hints at a love-at-first-sight.
Filming for the upcoming season began in 2024 itself after the two-part release of season three. Netflix had shared a glimpse into a table read as photographs of the cast went viral in no time. The two-year gap between the releases was already anticipated, as shared by showrunner Jess Brownell.
The upcoming season will see many of the previous cast members reprising their roles, such as Jonathan Bailey, Simone Ashley, Nicola Coughlan, Hannah Dodd, Adjoa Andoh, Julie Andrews, Lorraine Ashbourne, Ruth Gemmell, Luke Newton and many more. The new cast members joining the above would be Isabella Wei, Michelle Mao and Katie Leung as Sophie Baek’s stepsisters, along with Posy Li as her stepmother.
The previous season saw Benedict exploring his sexuality as he indulged in a whirlwind romance. Moreover, the true identity of Lady Whistledown as Penelope Featherington was revealed to the public. Fans are eager to see how the story progresses from these twists.
