Netflix renews ‘Ginny & Georgia’ for third and fourth seasons

There is good news for Ginny & Georgia fans as Netflix has announced they will be renewing the show for not one but two more seasons. The brand new first lady in town (Brianne Howey’s Georgia Miller) and her daughter (Antonia Gentry’s Ginny) will be back with more drama! The news was announced at the Netflix Upfronts presentation on May 17th.

The cast of the show posted a video clip formally announcing the news where Raymond Ablack (who plays Joe) teased, “Season three and four, a lot of drama, a lot of love triangles… I’m ready for it.”

Series creator Sarah Lampert had previously told Tudum she has the story arcs “all planned out.” Lampert told Tudum before the launch of the second season, “When we had to develop the storyline for season two, we knew exactly what we wanted season three to be.”

However, co-showrunner Debra J. Fisher will be replaced by Sarah Glinski for the upcoming two seasons. While fans were left confused by this news, Deadline has reported that rumours of friction between Lampert and Fisher could be a possible reason behind this departure.

Ginny & Georgia follows the titular mother-daughter duo as the 30-something former teen mom moves into a new town in Massachusetts with her 15-year-old daughter and young son Austin (Diesel La Torraca) for a fresh new start. Even though the basic premise has ensured several comparisons with Gilmore Girls, this Netflix original has a lot more murder and mayhem going for it. It ain’t exactly the cosy Star Hollows saga of Emily, Lorelai, and Rory.

Season two is currently streaming on Netflix.
