Netflix renews fan-favourite ‘The Four Seasons’ for another season
Netflix is in the mood to reward its audience with many of their favourite shows being renewed. The recently released hit series The Four Seasons has just been announced to be returning for a second season. This news comes fresh off the stove as the show premiered at the beginning of the month.
The American comedy drama was specially created for Netflix by Tina Fey, Lang Fisher, who has also produced Netflix’s Never Have I Ever, and Tracey Wigfield. It was adapted from a 1981 film of the same name, written and directed by Alan Alda.
It stars actors Steve Carell, Colman Domingo, Tina Fey, Will Forte, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Marco Calvani, and Erika Henningsen. The show is based on three couples who have been friends since college and go on holidays together every three months.
Friendships and relationships are tested when one of the husbands, Nick, decides to divorce his wife, Anne. Even more complications arise later on when Nick introduces his younger girlfriend to the group.
Dealing with themes of friendship, love, and life, this show became a hit in no time. It garnered so much attention and praise that Netflix decided to renew it within two weeks of its release. Spanning eight episodes, with two episodes each focusing on a specific season, this show is absolutely binge-worthy.
At the end of season one, there were many dramatic twists and turns. Audience now wonders how they will be explored in the upcoming season, as a major character passed away while another was announced to be pregnant.
Season one also paid homage to its source material by featuring a cameo by Alan Alda himself. Fey recruited him to play a small role as Anne’s widowed father, who leaves the characters with an important message on communication in relationships. Fans are eagerly waiting to see if they will get to see Alda again in the coming season.
