
Netflix renews ‘Bridgerton’ for two more seasons
Lady Whistledown’s paper came bearing some exciting news for its readers today. The streaming giant Netflix has officially renewed Bridgerton for two additional seasons in the coming years. Along with that, they have confirmed that the upcoming fourth season will hit the screens in 2026.
The popular series is an adaptation of Julia Quinn’s eight-part romance series. So far, Netflix, in collaboration with Shondaland, has covered three of the eight books with the already released seasons. As each season covers one book, the regency-era series will be covering three more.
Similar to the books, each season focuses on one sibling from the Bridgerton family. The much-awaited fourth season will revolve around the romance of Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thompson. His love interest will be Sophie Baek, played by Yerin Ha. Considering the praise Thompson has already garnered with his role, the fourth season has fans waiting with bated breath.
An exclusive first look at the fourth season followed the announcement. The clip followed Benedict around a masquerade ball as he first sees Sophie and seemingly falls in love. In the past seasons, Benedict, who is known and loved for his wit on the show, has been seen in and out of a few romances while exploring his sexuality.
The third season which observed a two-part release in 2024, focused on Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington, who is also Lady Whistledown. While the audience was already aware of Lady Whistledown’s true identity, this season revealed the news to the ton at large. Upcoming season will also show the consequences of this revelation for the. Viewers are eager to see how the voiceover approach will be adapted to account for it.
Many previous cast members, such as Adjoa Andoh, Ruth Gemmell, Polly Walker, Golda Rosheuvel, and Hugh Sachs, will be reprising their roles. Newer cast members will see Isabella Wei, Michelle Mao and Katie Leung as Sophie Baek’s stepsisters. And Posy Li as her stepmother.
Bridgerton is produced by Shonda Rhimes and Jess Brownell. Rhimes, through her production company, is known for works such as Grey’s Anatomy, How to Get Away with Murder, and Netflix’s exclusive Inventing Anna.
