Netflix renews beloved sitcom ‘Leanne’ for season two
Netflix isn’t done renewing shows for 2025. Not just yet. Most recently, it set its sights on the comedy series fans have loved and adored, Leanne.
According to Tudum, Leanne is officially coming back for a second season. The 16-episode multi-camera comedy series premiered on July 31st. It follows Leanne and her challenges after her husband of 33 years walks out on her for another woman.
Speaking of the renewal, Leanne Morgan told Tudum, “We’re coming back for a second season! I’m so grateful to all the writers, producers, Netflix, WB, our amazing cast, and especially for all the fans of the show. Y’all did this for us, and we can’t wait to be back!”
Co-creator and executive producer, Chuck Lorre, best known for Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory, chimed in to shower gratitude upon Netflix for greenlighting another season of Leanne. He also seized the opportunity to congratulate the cast and crew. “This has been an incredible journey that began with a visit to Knoxville, Tennessee. Leanne Morgan is a complete package. A comedic genius, a warm, loving human being, and an absolute joy to work with,” he extoled further.
Besides Morgan and Lorre, Susan McMartin has co-created and executive-produced Leanne. Additionally, Nick Bakay and Judi Marmel serve as executive producers. The cast for season one included Morgan, Kristen Johnston, Celia Weston, Blake Clark, Graham Rogers, Ryan Stiles, Tim Daly, and Hannah Pikes, among others.
While it remains to be seen what kind of laughter riot awaits fans in the next season of Leanne, fans can always throw it back to Morgan’s most-viewed stand-up special, I’m Every Woman. If that’s not enough, another Netflix special, Unspeakable Things, will premiere globally on November 4th.
Unspeakable Things marks Morgan’s second stand-up special on Netflix that’s about to run for an hour. Moreover, this is only the first of the two specials from her coattails coming to the streamer. And by the looks of it, Netflix has plans to leave fans sidesplitting throughout the year. After all, what’s a better way to end the year than with a dose of good laughter?
