Netflix releases 'Sonic Prime Dash' on games

This week, streaming giant Netflix introduced its latest game, Sonic Prime Dash, to coincide with the second series of the hit animated series, Sonic Prime

The game is available to play for free and without adverts or a paywall with a standard Netflix subscription – costing £7, $7, or AU$7 – on Android and iOS devices.

It has been reported that the new game, Sonic Prime Dash, is nearly identical to the 2013 game Sonic Dash, which also arrived in a running format. To date, more than 100 million people have downloaded the decade-old game, with its success leading to the 2015 sequel Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom.

Sonic Prime Dash holds most of the same mechanics as Sonic Dash, with players dodging and jumping to avoid obstacles as they collect rings in the traditional format that made Sonic such a hit.

The main distinction between the new Netflix game at its 2013 predecessor is that the latest edition features fresh designs and character skins following what’s seen in Sonic Prime, such as cyborg versions of Amy Rose and Tails.

To access Netflix’s games, open the app on any Android or iOS device, scroll down the homepage until the Mobile Games carousel pops up, and then click into any game that takes your fancy.

In other Netflix news, the documentary series Harry & Meghan, produced by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, has been shortlisted for the ‘Best Streaming Non-Fiction Series’ at the Hollywood Critics Awards (HCA).

This six-part series, released in December, is the only show the couple have so far produced under their multi-year agreement with the platform, reportedly worth around £77million.
