Netflix just took over the 2026 Golden Globes with 35 nominations

Look at you all, sitting here in your imaginary gowns and tuxes as if announcing Netflix nominees was an award show in itself. Nevertheless, welcome, welcome, welcome to the unofficial kickoff of award season. It’s time to grab your seats because Netflix just walked into the 2026 Golden Globes with ’35 nominations’, yes, thirty freaking five, and the confidence of someone who didn’t even check the seating chart before entering.

And since you are basically our audience tonight, we have decided to treat this like a live show. So sit tight, grab your popcorn, and let’s talk about who is collecting nominations like they are party favours.

Let’s start with the biggest gasp of the night: Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. Five nominations. Five. The drama category bowed as Oscar Isaac strutted in with his Best Actor nod, and Jacob Elordi slid into Supporting with the easiest “of course he did” moment of the season. Del Toro obviously has grabbed his director nomination, along with Alexandre Desplat getting a score recognition. Before you know it, you are watching a Gothic monster walk into award season wearing tailored couture. It’s stunning behaviour. Pure class, as they say.

Now, moving to something the internet has not stopped chanting about: KPop Demon Hunters. Three nominations, and honestly, the film deserves a little victory lap around the ballroom. The song “Golden” is everywhere on social media, so its nomination was basically required by law. The film also landed in the Best Animated Motion Picture and the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement categories. And the best part? The directors and songwriters are getting their first-ever Globe nominations. This is the moment fandoms love: talent getting the spotlight they should have had from day one.

But let’s turn the spotlight to television, because Adolescence walked in looking at the trophies like they already had shelf space cleared. Five nominations. After that Emmy sweep in September, nobody doubted they’d be back for more. Owen Cooper picks up his first Golden Globe nomination, and Stephen Graham, Ashley Walters, and Erin Doherty join him. This show has been snatching trophies left, right and centre, and the Globes are no exception.

And now, a duo we didn’t know we needed: George Clooney and Adam Sandler, both nominated for Jay Kelly. Clooney scores his 14th nomination, and at this point, he should get a loyalty card. Meanwhile, Sandler lands in Supporting with a performance everyone keeps talking about. The film world is shaking.

But do not sit down yet, because Netflix brought a whole set of first-time nominees too. Jacob Elordi gets his first Globe nod for Frankenstein. Nick Cave shows up with a nomination for his original song. Charlie Hunnam steps in for Monster: The Ed Gein Story. Rashida Jones gets recognised for Black Mirror, along with Paul Giamatti. And Kevin Hart slides into the stand-up category with Acting My Age. It’s a full house.

On the series side, Netflix truly wanted to cover the other genres while they’re at it, because we also have The Diplomat showing up strong. The Beast in Me has brought in acting nominations for Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys. And rom-com fans? Nobody Wants This has made a wild card entry with Kristen Bell and Adam Brody nominated. A festival.

Alright, the applause lights are blinking. Let’s look at the full list.
