Netflix just added ‘Overcooked’: One of the best co-op games ever
Okay, this is actually a bigger deal than you think, people, because Netflix has officially added Overcooked! All You Can Eat to its games library, and if you have been around the gaming scene for even a little while, you already know why everybody is losing their minds over this.
We are talking about Overcooked. The Overcooked. The co-op game that has tested friendships and turned normal people into screaming kitchen managers. But isn’t that exactly why everyone loves it?
Long before Netflix got involved, Overcooked had already earned its place as one of the most iconic co-op games ever made. The series became a massive hit because of its simple concept: cooking food and turning it into omnishambles.
If that sounds stressful, trust us, it is. But it is also ridiculously fun. The version that just arrived on Netflix is Overcooked! All You Can Eat, which is basically the ultimate edition of the franchise. Instead of getting one game, players get both Overcooked and Overcooked 2 along with all previously released DLC, seasonal content and bonus levels. That’s more than 200 levels of culinary chaos just one click away.
For anyone jumping in for the first time, here is the basic idea. You and your team work together to prepare meals and serve customers before time runs out. Sounds easy enough, right? Wrong. Because these are not normal kitchens. One minute you are chopping onions in an ordinary restaurant. The next minute, you are trying to cook burgers on moving trucks speeding down a highway. Then you are making soup on an iceberg. Meanwhile, your rice is all burnt.
At some point, you will stop asking questions and just embrace that mess. The games take place in the Onion Kingdom, where cooking is the answer to saving the world. In the first adventure, players must prepare for a showdown against the Ever Peckish, a gigantic spaghetti-and-meatball monster that threatens to consume everything in sight. Yes, really. In the sequel, things get even weirder when the Onion King accidentally releases the Unbread after reading from a magical cookbook called the Necro-nomnom-icon.
One of the biggest reasons Overcooked became such a phenomenon is because literally anyone can play it. You don’t need to be a hardcore gamer. The controls are simple, and the objective is easy to understand. Everybody has a job to do, and if even one person drops the ball, things can go downhill fast.
That’s where the funniest moments happen. Netflix’s version also throws in some exclusive crossover characters for fans. Players can cook as familiar faces from Stranger Things, including Eleven, Dustin, Lucas and even the Demogorgon. There are also characters from KPop Demon Hunters joining the kitchen crew because, apparently, saving the world and serving food go hand in hand now.
Honestly, this feels like the perfect addition to Netflix Games. Whether you are playing with friends or family, Overcooked! All You Can Eat absolutely serves (pun intended).
