Netflix is bringing a new adult animated comedy from the ‘Big Mouth’ creators

Netflix pulled the curtains on Big Mouth following an explosive eight-season run, but adult animated fans need to buckle up for something fresh coming out of the streaming oven, Mating Season.

The twisted minds behind the Emmy-nominated series are officially returning to Netflix with their new show this May, which means subscribers are going to sweat it out for all things laugh-out-loud this summer.

Co-created by Mark Levin, Jennifer Flackett, Andrew Goldberg, and Nick Kroll, and executive produced by them for Brutus Pink, Mating Season additionally has Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonia Canobbio, and Ben Kalina executive-producing on behalf of Titmouse.

Unlike Big Mouth, which centred on a group of adolescents and their repulsive Hormone Monsters, Mating Season, the upcoming adult animated romantic comedy, set in the animal kingdom, focuses on love, sex, relationships, and the universal need to find a better half and perpetuate the species. The series stars raccoons, deer, bears, foxes, and flocks of other horny, lovable forest creatures.

Big Mouth broke new ground in the world of adult animation with heart, humour, and total chaos – they took the awkwardness of adolescence and turned it into something universal and deeply human,” said John Derderian, Vice President, Animation Series, Netflix.

“Working with Nick Kroll and the brilliant minds at Brutus Pink over the course of eight seasons has been legendary. Now, with Mating Season, they’ll bring that same bold and hilarious creativity into the animal kingdom. We’re beyond excited to unleash this next chapter together.”

The Brutus Pink team is just as excited to keep growing on Netflix. “After eight incredible seasons telling stories about growing up, we’re excited to tell stories about actual grown-ups,” the crew chimed in, further adding, “who happen to be animals. Who are also cartoons.”

The cast of Mating Season so far includes Kroll as the voice of a raccoon named Ray, June Diane Raphael as a deer named Fawn, Zach Woods as a bear named Josh, and Sabrina Jalees as a fox named Penelope.

Now, for those curious about when Mating Season lands on Netflix, well, the date is May 22nd. If you’re someone who has been pre-planning their summer watchlists, save room for this one. As for those who forget easily, mark your calendars now so that there’s no regret later on. Although there’s no trailer available yet, do stay tuned for more updates.
