Netflix has cancelled Arnold Schwarzenegger’s action-comedy ‘Fubar’ after two seasons

Netflix has officially cancelled the Arnold Schwarzenegger-led series Fubar after two seasons and left fans of the action-comedy a little bemused.

The action-comedy initially premiered in 2023 and was considered a success for the streamer during its first season. However, its second season, which dropped on June 12th, 2025, did not maintain the same momentum.

Although Fubar briefly made it into Nielsen’s streaming originals top ten for the week of June 16th, its presence there was short-lived, and it can be squared away as a reaction to Netflix’s heavy promotion.

The show failed to maintain enough viewership to stay on the chart in the weeks that followed, and its rapid decline likely contributed to Netflix’s decision to discontinue the series. But this has left many of the show’s devoted fans a little curious.

The show’s premise followed Luke Brunner (Schwarzenegger), a seasoned CIA operative who was ready to retire until a final mission revealed that his fellow agent in need of saving was actually his daughter. Thrust back into the field, Brunner was forced to confront a dangerous new threat in the form of a former lover turned global menace. The mix of family dynamics and espionage gave Fubar a unique tone.

Nick Santora created the series and also served as showrunner and executive producer. Other executive producers included Schwarzenegger, Adam Higgs, Scott Sullivan, Phil Abraham, Amy Pocha, Seth Cohen, and Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell. Season two of Fubar was produced under the Skydance Television banner.

Despite Schwarzenegger’s star power and the show’s initial promise, the long gap between seasons may have hurt its momentum. Viewer interest appeared to taper off quickly after the second season’s release, reflecting a trend that has impacted other delayed streaming series.

Netflix continues to expand its slate of original scripted series. Recent renewals include hits like Wednesday, which has yet to drop its second season but already has a third, Bridgerton (which is getting two more seasons), Virgin River, and The Diplomat, along with newer entries like Geek Girl, Tires, and The Vince Staples Show.
