Netflix “gem” perfect for ‘One Tree Hill’ fans
It has been more than a decade since fans bid their goodbyes to the teen drama with a heart, One Tree Hill. But Netflix now has a fan-certified “gem” that could be the next fan favourite for all those missing the extremely popular WB show.
For those in need of a refresher, One Tree Hill was set against the fictional town of Tree Hill, revolving around the lives of two half-brothers, portrayed by Chad Michael Murray and James Lafferty. And the series on Netflix that the fans should go for, eyes blindfolded, is the Canadian series, Sullivan’s Crossing.
Based on Robyn Carr’s novel series, Sullivan’s Crossing follows a neurosurgeon, Maggie Sullivan, whose ups and downs with some legal troubles lead to her return to her homeland in rural Nova Scotia. But her relocation also means another thing: reconnecting with her estranged father, Sully, as she begins her life from scratch.
Morgan Kohan, best known for her works in Love on Harbour Island and When Hope Calls, portrays Maggie in Sullivan’s Crossing, alongside several television icons of the noughties. Murray, who played Lucas Scott in One Tree Hill, portrays local handyperson Cal in the series. Meanwhile, Scott Patterson from Gilmore Girls plays Sully, Maggie’s father. The main cast also includes Tom Jackson and Andrea Menard, while recurring members consist of Lynda Boyd, Allan Hawco, Dakota Taylor, and Amalia Williamson.
Sullivan’s Crossing originally premiered on CTV and The CW in 2023 and returned with two more instalments in 2024 and 2025. The most recent one was released in June this year, and it has also been renewed for a fourth season, which is expected to be released in 2026.
All 30 episodes from the show hit the Netflix UK shelves earlier in October, wasting no time in marking its spot in the weekly TV charts. It is currently ranked sixth on the top ten shows chart in the UK, which is enough proof that the fans are absolutely loving Sullivan’s Crossing.
Since its release in 2023, Sullivan’s Crossing has received rave reviews across review aggregator sites. Many viewers have even likened it to Virgin River, the Netflix hit starring Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson. But a fan on IMDb wrote, “Sullivan’s Crossing is the best show that you’re not watching. As a huge One Tree Hill fan, it’s amazing seeing Chad Michael Murray in another small-town gem.”
So, in case you’re still not caught up with it, this is your cue to watch Sullivan’s Crossing, which is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
