Netflix gears up for a star-studded adult animated workplace sitcom, ‘Living the Dream’
The adult animation catalogue on Netflix never really disappoints. So, this time around, the platform has officially stepped up with a promising workplace sitcom to add to the genre, Living the Dream, from Apple & Onion creator George Gendi.
According to a recent Deadline report, Netflix has ordered the series, featuring an all-star voice cast that includes Ambika Mod, best known for her work in One Day, and Julia Davis, who viewers may remember from Sally4ever.
Living the Dream reportedly revolves around two best friends, Des and Ray, both from London, who believe they should have made a name for themselves by now or at least left a mark. But instead, they’re fixated on the social media sector at a company called Ecofood, where they must come to terms with awkward workplace romance, HR mishaps, directives from the LA office, and Ray’s dad’s objection.
Gendi, the BAFTA-nominated creator of Apple & Onion on Cartoon Network, leads the voice cast alongside Javone Prince, Mod, Davis, Ellie White, and Tom Stourton. As of now, that’s all that is known about the cast of Living the Dream.
Speaking of the upcoming adult animated workplace sitcom, Gendi jested, “If living the dream is being asked for a quote for a press release to announce my new show and then, at Netflix’s request, trying to make it more cheeky/funny and then doing that countless times because none of them are good enough, then I’ve made it.”
Producing the eight-part series for Netflix is Warner Bros. Animation’s Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe. Netflix unveiled the show on November 12th at the Manchester Animation Festival, taking place in the UK.
That said, this is not the only adult animated series that Netflix is gearing up for. Earlier this year, in September, the streaming giant greenlighted Ricky Gervais’ Alley Cats. It also renewed Long Story Short from BoJack Horseman’s creator, Raphael Bob-Waksberg, for a second season following the success of the first. In fact, Netflix rolled out several new adult animated titles throughout 2025, making the catalogue a treasure trove of its own.
Although the whereabouts and release window of Living the Dream remain shrouded in mystery, it’s safe to assume that it will live up to the reputation set by its predecessors so far.
Sam Register (Looney Tunes Cartoons, Teen Titans Go!), Sarah Fell (The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball), and Daniel Lennard (The Amazing World of Gumball) serve as executive producers for Living the Dream. Gendi, White, Phoebe Walsh, Joe Parnham, and Joe Markham are co-writing the series with Ireland’s Boulder Media backing it up as the animation studio.
