Netflix shares full trailer for ‘3 Body Problem’

Netflix has released the final trailer for the forthcoming murder mystery series 3 Body Problem at CES in Las Vegas. The new series will commence in March.

Helmed by David Benioff, D.B. Weiss and Alexander Woo, known best for creating Game of Thrones, the series is based on Liu Cixin’s 2008 novel, The Three-Body Problem

Benioff, Weiss and Woo also served as executive producers and screenwriters during the project, assiduously adapting the novel for Netflix audiences. Also producing were Bernadette, Rian Johnson, Ram Bergman and Nena Rodrigue for T-Street, the late Lin Qi, Zhao Jilong, Brad Pitt, Jeremy Kleiner and Dede Gardner.

The official synopsis on Netflix reads: “A young woman’s fateful decision in 1960s China reverberates across space and time into the present day. When the laws of nature inexplicably unravel before their eyes, a close-knit group of brilliant scientists join forces with an unorthodox detective to confront the greatest threat in humanity’s history.”

The cast features Jovan Adepo, John Bradley, Rosalind Chao, Liam Cunningham, Eiza González, Jess Hong, Marlo Kelly, Alex Sharp, Sea Shimooka, Zine Tseng, Saamer Usmani, Benedict Wong and Jonathan Pryce.

“What we are hoping to do is to convey the experience — if not necessarily the exact details — of the novel onto the screen,” Netflix announces regarding the novel adaptation. “What stayed, we hope, is the sense of wonderment and the sense of scope, of scale, where the problems are no longer just the problems of an individual or even a nation, but of an entire species.”
