Netflix confirms ‘You’ season 4 is officially in production

In a simple tweet uploaded to Netflix UK Twitter account on March 22nd, 2022, it has been confirmed that You season four is officially in production. The show, which is loosely based on the novels by Caroline Kepnes, has already had a successful three-season run, picking up steam in the second and third season to high acclaim.

The show follows Joe Goldberg, a twisted killer who fancies himself a simple romantic. Chronicling his romantic endeavours across the country—and now, the globe—the show juxtaposes classic romantic tropes with their bitter, often shocking realities.

The show was originally released on the Lifetime network but was cancelled after the first season due to low viewership. However, upon its release to Netflix, it picked up traction and was ultimately renewed to continue with a second and eventual third season.

Although there is no season four release date as of yet, there are some estimates that are worth mentioning. The most conservative guesses would place season four’s release sometime within the spring of 2023. However, depending on the circumstances of filming and development, it could take longer than that.

As for other speculations on what season four will hold, we can say with fair certainty that Victoria Pedretti will not be returning for the fourth season, nor will many of the fan-favourites from previous seasons, as is the case with the stark location shift. However, we might count on seeing Marienne Bellamy, as is teased by the ending of season three.

We can also keep our eyes peeled for that aforementioned location shift, as this season has been teased to take place in the city of love itself, Paris. However, this could be a red herring, as You has been known to make similar moves in the past.
