Netflix confirms documentary on Fred and Rose West
Netflix have announced details of their new documentary series focusing on notorious British serial killers Fred and Rose West.
In a statement, director Dan Dewsbury said: “Making this series has been a huge undertaking for our team. Getting access to never before seen video, never before heard tapes, access to people who have never previously spoken about the case, whilst also balancing the sensitivities of the families.”
Dewsbury continued: “After decades of quiet heartbreak and strength, has been inspiring to be part of. We have huge respect for the police investigation which led to Fred and Rose West being held responsible for the crimes.”
The couple murdered at least 12 young women between them in a timespan of two decades, between 1967 and 1987, with Fred believed to have carried out two of the killings by himself.
Before Fred could be brought to justice for his crimes, he died in prison by suicide in 1995 before his trial was set to take place. Rose is still in prison and received ten life sentences, ensuring she’ll never be released from jail.
Fred & Rose West: A British Horror Story is set for release on Netflix on May 14th, 2025. It’s the second instalment of the British Horror Story series, following a documentary about paedophile TV presenter Jimmy Savile in 2022.
